Where has she been?? Lana Del Rey has certainly been mia lately. But late last night she world premiered her new video for "Chelsea Hotel No 2", a cover done first by singer/songwriter, Leonard Cohen.
Of course she looks beautiful in the clip. Wearing her trademark heavy eyeliner, 60's huge false lashes, nude lips and giant chocolate tresses. Lana could be mistaken for Miss America instead of a singer (but that's per usual).
The track, one surprisingly I have never heard before, is sad, introspective and deep, much like the works of Miss Del Rey herself. It's gorgeously stripped down, mostly just her husky, echoey, breathy whisper of a voice, and an acoustic guitar. Leonard Cohen wrote the tune, which appeared on his 1974 album, "New Skin For The Old Ceremony" about his short romance with the infamous Janis Joplin at the long-time NYC celeb infested haunt, The Chelsea Hotel.
Will the song be on an upcoming release? Not sure, but I can never get enough of LDR. Can you? What do YOU think of her version of Leonard Cohen's "Chelsea Hotel No 2"? Loves or Leaves?
